Muster the courage
To be steadfast
To truth ever pledge
And learn from the past
Truth is timeless
It does not change
Speak up, confess
Where all truth hangs
God’s commandments
Still remain true
Each law make sense
The good we should do
The World Needs Pioneers Today (to stand for truth)

“Can we somehow muster the courage and steadfastness of purpose that characterized the pioneers of a former generation? Can you and I, in actual fact, be pioneers? I know we can be. Oh, how the world needs pioneers today!”

Brothers, born in a war-zone
Found in a shoebox with no identiy
Infants, hands and feet- they had none

Will come before each face
Have courage and re-position,
Stand for the principles you embrace.

Thomas S. Monson

Let there not be any doubt
That the world could not have enough
Of good men with good works about
Be courageous and prepared
Stand alone- help others rise too
Have faith- do not be scared
And let the gospel shine through you
…There is ever so much to do

Preserved to labor

A path to the Savior
Where “all is well”

Let us do the same
For our children’s children
In our Lord’s name
Let us persevere for them

persevered against injustice, misunderstanding, some intolerance, occasional bigotry, occasional racism, against differences of custom and traditions and faith, [and] labored against all of that to carve out for us, their descendants, the wonderful day and the marvelous miraculous time in which we live

Elder Holland said. “We owe the same pioneering, persevering legacy to our children and our children’s children.”

Elder Holland spoke at the Ogden (Utah) Pioneer Days Devotional at the Dee Events Center at Weber State University on July 17, 2011, and encouraged individuals to work together while respecting and emulating their diverse pioneer heritage in their communities today.

“People working together are more successful, more prosperous and much more happy than neighborhoods or ethnic groups or religious faiths that are suspicious of one another, threatened by one another, and all too often hostile, even violent, toward one another,” he said.
