In the taking of life, let there be no doubt.
It robs a soul of the vast ways to grow
And of posterity never to know.
Unlimited is the destruction in the end;
From one loss of life, of what could have been.
It is better that a millstone had been found,
Before the murder, that the murderer had been drowned!
Let there be tears and a searching of God,
For mercy, by the murderer whose needs are broad.
Let there be peace and healing, with sweet memories told
Among the victim’s loved ones who have but hope to hold.
