Scriptures are like packets of light
That reach inside us to speak
Inspiring us, from Father on high,
As oft as we humbly seek
A memorized scripture becomes a friend
That we can call upon any time
Adding new meaning again and again
Illuminating thoughts in our mind
Therein lies power even to heal us
Of the many emotions that harm
Lest from worry we fall to pieces
The scriptures offer insights that calm
Pondering a passage can be a key
To unlock revelation and hope
Restoring confidence so quick to flee
To really see, feel, and know

Pondering The Power of Scripture
Elder Richard G. Scott
Nov Ensign 2011, 6

Hold on tight as a babe would,
To the scriptures ever good.
Be a light in this dark world;
In deed, love, and gratitude.

The Bible and the Book of Mormon are now woven together
For enlightenment, they have become one in our hands
As you pore into one you are drawn into the other
Fulfillment of Ezekiel’s prophecy now forever stands

Elder Boyd K. Packer, a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, said that the Bible and the Book of Mormon “are now woven together in such a way that as you pore over one you are drawn to the other; as you learn from one you are enlightened by the other. They are indeed one in our hands. Ezekiel’s prophecy [in Ezekiel 37:15–19] now stands fulfilled” (in Conference Report, Oct. 1982, 75; or Ensign, Nov. 1982, 53). Boyd K. Packer, “Scriptures,” Ensign, Nov. 1982, 51

>Spiritually, Jesus was led
To commune with God- alone
That His Spirit might be fed
And prepared to atone

For forty days and nights he fasted
Manifesting who He really was
For no matter how long temptation lasted
He could withstand all that would tempt us

Whether on a pinnacle, plain, or mountain
His answer was always to quote
From God’s word, springing forth as a fountain
Knowing all, of Him, each prophet wrote

Often during His ministry
He went off a ways to pray
And recommune with God in purity
He the Truth, Life, and the Way

May we each set forth a time
To fast with God- apart
That within we might find
God’s words flowing from our hearts

That no matter what may tempt and try us
We can remember who we are
Having the scriptures, thus
To guide as our pillar star

Then the devil taketh him up into the bholy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,
And saith unto him, bIf thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.
Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not atempt the Lord thy God.
Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the bkingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;
And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.
Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, aSatan: for it is written, Thou shalt bworship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.
Then the devil leaveth him, aand, behold, bangels came and ministered unto him.
