In Spirit, may we all
Take the trip to Bethlehem
And warm our hearts with awe
At all we have been given

Let the bright star guide us
To where the promised baby lay
God’s gift to us, Jesus
Let us witness, this holy day

Let us be touched anew
With tender feelings from this night
And our covenants renew
To carry and share of His light

Offering for sampling
His kindness, gentleness,
Hope, love, understanding…
His light of holiness

May hearts soften, forgive,
And more kindly reach out
To where those in need live
Who, in some way go without

May Jesus reshape our thinking
He lived and died for us
May there be more time for giving
May we share of Him, thus

Thoughts from President Thomas S. Monson’s words

There is nothing in this world
That can bring more happiness
And comfort than to know God’s word
Has born a special witness
Labor long that it may stay
Ever strong and deep within
Think of others in this way
And share what you’ve been given

There is absolutely nothing in this world that will provide more comfort and happiness than a testimony of the truth. Although to varying degrees, I believe every man or young man here tonight has a testimony. If you feel that you do not yet have the depth of testimony you would wish, I admonish you to work to achieve such a testimony. If it is strong and deep, labor to keep it that way. How blessed we are to have a knowledge of the truth.

We have the responsibility to look at our friends, our associates, our neighbors this way. Again, we have the responsibility to see individuals not as they are but rather as they can become. I would plead with you to think of them in this way.

Brethren, the Lord told us something about the importance of this priesthood that we hold. He told us that we receive it with an oath and a covenant. He gave unto us the instruction that we must be faithful and true in all that we receive, and that we have the responsibility to keep this covenant even unto the end. And then all that the Father has shall be given unto us.

Struggling to overcome
She slipped beyond the veil
Her loss has been profound
But her smile lives on still

Brothers and sisters, six months ago as we met together in our general conference, my sweet wife, Frances, lay in the hospital, having suffered a devastating fall just a few days earlier. In May, after weeks of valiantly struggling to overcome her injuries, she slipped into eternity. Her loss has been profound. She and I were married in the Salt Lake Temple on October 7, 1948. Tomorrow would have been our 65th wedding anniversary. She was the love of my life, my trusted confidant, and my closest friend. To say that I miss her does not begin to convey the depth of my feelings.

Your patriarchal blessing
Is your passport to peace
Within, light is beckoning
T’wards home. How the words please!

Your patriarchal blessing is your passport to peace in this life.
It is a Liahona of light to guide you unerringly to your heavenly home. President Thomas S. Monson

He will sanctify your efforts
To teach, rescue, and save
He will magnify your labors
Even your words… to save

As the number of missionaries increases in wards and stakes around the world, I implore you to exercise your faith, as did President Wilson in St. Thomas, as you prayerfully consider which of your family, your friends, your neighbors, and your acquaintances you would like to invite to your home to meet with the missionaries, that they might hear the message of the Restoration. As the Lord did with the city of St. Thomas, He will sanctify your efforts, and you will gain a capacity beyond your own to lift and bless the lives of others.
May we ever increase our faith and faithfulness in fulfilling our sacred duty to rescue our Heavenly Father’s children—our brothers and sisters. In the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, amen.

Crowning truth and light was given
As effort coupled with renewed faith
Through much encouragement, even
The work of salvation took place!

I provided encouragement for them to grow in numbers by their personal efforts to fellowship and to teach. The outcome, brothers and sisters, is a classic example of faith coupled with effort and crowned with testimony.

No words are more relevant
Than those of the Lord
Let us not be hesitant
To spread His great word!

The holy scriptures contain no proclamation more relevant, no responsibility more binding, no instruction more direct than the injunction given by the resurrected Lord as He appeared in Galilee to the eleven disciples. Said He: “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost” (Matthew 28:19). The Prophet Joseph Smith declared: “After all that has been said, the greatest and most important duty is to preach the Gospel.” Some of you here today will yet remember the words of President David O. McKay, who phrased the familiar “Every member a missionary!” President Gordon B. Hinckley told us: “So many of us look upon missionary work as simply tracting. Everyone who is familiar with this work knows there is a better way. That way is through the members of the Church.”
To their words I add my own. Now is the time for members and missionaries to come together, to work together, to labor in the Lord’s vineyard to bring souls unto Him. He has prepared the means for us to share the gospel in a multitude of ways, and He will assist us in our labors if we will act in faith to fulfill His work.
